I also believe that this option should come back. I don't understand the reason why it's replaced by this non-functional search in the tabs feature... also instead of removing instant search please enhance it more, for example let us be able to change the search engine other than google...

RE: Opera 68 is here with built-in Instagram in the sidebarBlogs
Could you please tell me why you guys removed Instant Search (google) from the latest version? A lot of people liked the feature, please tell me there are plans to bring it back.
people are complaining about this everywhere. I hope they bring it back if they are not going to I hope they can give us an explanation about what did they think? why did they drop that feature?
is there any dev in here that can tell us anything about this? obviously a lot of users are upset...
don't close window with last tabSuggestions and feature requests
- instead of closing the window with cmd+w / ctrl+w it would be nice to turn back to the start page.
- I believe it's a useful feature because sometimes I quickly close all the tabs one after another and end up closing the whole window and then open a new window again. instead of this, it would be nice if opera stops and displays the start page.
RE: Opera 68 is here with built-in Instagram in the sidebarBlogs
I also miss the top right drop-down menu.
you can still have it just disable opera://flags#search-in-open-tabs
Sometimes keeping a feature that very few people use may not worth the cost.
I understand this "costs", but opera is an innovative browser right? instant search was a super innovative feature. they should be improving it more, not dropping it. I prefer opera to see this feature as something they can promote for more people to use. they give up too quickly.
problem is what kind of user base they are aiming right now? if the quality of that user base will determine the features in the future and if opera choose to make a browser for more average user it makes me a bit worry because I don't know how innovative and feature-rich it can get with this approach. this is why I think they need to keep listening to some of their users who demand more capability and practical design.
I believe more advance user base what opera needs. for promoting itself, defending itself against haters, etc. if you give me a good product that I really believe and feel like I'm a part of, I'll promote it and defend it.
RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@avl why not both can exist at the same time? why it has to be one or the other? instant search feature should be enhanced in my honest opinion. we should be able to search in tabs, bookmarks, history, extensions, under the hood shortcuts, web search with custom search engines, etc.
another option I can think of -and I believe this can be a bit more sustainable in your part; is using the enhanced address bar in a similar way. like how firefox did. you can make it bigger on focus and look (maybe) and behave similarly to the spotlight in macos? I really liked the enhanced address bar and maybe it can become a very cool feature and make everyone happy?

I can't believe we don't have this man... just... sigh...
RE: news on startpage start too lowOpera for Mac
@andrew84 I believe they don't care about their users anymore and that's a very good excuse to leave Opera and start using Vivaldi...
RE: Chinese investments in OperaLounge
people are concerning about chinese ownership and saying that china has a bad record with human rights. same people are giving all their info to google and/or facebook voluntarily and become their product and this is better than what they think about china? neither is good and I believe some of this concerns can be acceptable. what opera should do with this is that they should be more transparent about all this, not complete silence. people are thinking that some things are not right. this is just bad management of a corporate image. they should do better.

RE: Discord and Slack in sidebarSuggestions and feature requests
I think adding all this to the sidebar discord, twitter, etc. are all related to the ram usage of the browser. if devs can find a way to make it work within the acceptable levels of ram usage they would add them immediately.

open image option for the context menu
there's only open image in new tab option. most of the time when I search images I don't need to open them in a new tab, but I need to open the linked image. opening them in a new tab is not being practical. plus, every other browser has this option.

fingerprinting add-onOpera add-ons
which add-on/s you use or recommend for fingerprinting? there's one called CanvasBlocker for Firefox, but it's not available for chrome based browsers. if there's any alternative/s? the ones I tried are not seems to be working... in their website it says these add-ons are protecting against fingerprinting, but, I ran some privacy tests and the result was the opposite.

ublock and opera ad blockerOpera for Mac
hello, I guess they both are doing the same job. so, for better performance should we keep only one? if ublock is enough or opera ad block is enough, running them both is actually useless? and only causing performance drop? any insight would be wonderful, thank you.
RE: radio stations for playerSuggestions and feature requests
@pavelopdev thanks a lot for the answer it would be amazing if I can add some custom stations like I do in worldwide radio or online radio extensions. because, there's no fun in discovering music in big platforms, actually it's not possible. when I listen radios I keep discovering new bands while I work. those platforms are helping users to reach any music, but they are not fun for discovering. maybe youtube music, but I don't want to give my money to google.
radio stations for playerSuggestions and feature requests
in player if we can add custom radio stations that would be amazing.
I listen online music a lot, but I use radios instead of this paid services.
