Irritating intrusions on start up.
Today I see 3 small but infuriating tiles have been added to startup page. All 3 refer to Black Friday which thwy tell me begins in 3 days time- it actually happened 3 days ago! None of these mini tiles can be deleted and I alrady have "receive promoted Speed Dials" un- ticked.
Please Opera stop causing hassle and irritation! Even better explain how to stop these unwanted intrusions. -

In my case, there was a cross (on the right above these three entries, I think) to close this advertising and to not show it again.

I too had 3 tiles on my Opera startpage on startup. There was a checkbox to remind me again tomorrow or not to do so again.
I don't think you can say it was "infuriating" ,just unwelcome. I can understand though that people including myself don't want programmes to behave differently to the expected behaviour. -

Maybe "what was Black Friday"? I've seen retailers using the term since the beginning of November.
As far as actual physical stores, I know Wal-mart doesn't do the traditional Black Friday anymore. If you go back about 10 years, there were always stories of lines around the block, people camping out days early so they could be first in line, pushing and shoving to get the best deals ... and there were cases of actual injuries and people being trampled. After one such incident, Wal-mart decided to allow people into the store early (many stores were already open 24/7 so they'd just keep them all open that Thursday night), then eventually they just decided they may as well have all their best deals Thursday night. (Though they still refer to it as "Black Friday deals".)
By the same token, online retailers invented the term "Cyber Monday" to refer to people shopping online for all the deals they missed out on at the actual brick-and-mortar stores (though why anyone would wait 3 days to shop online is beyond me). But that term never really had any traction - all the online retailers have their own Black Friday stuff for even several days before the actual day.

Perhaps the picture here shows what some users are currently seeing (I could be wrong because it's in Russian).
The Russian thread title is in English: "How do I remove ads from the Express Panel?"
