Adblock Plus

This doesn't "block ads" is just covers them up while they play. You still have to wait for the ad to end before you can skip it.

@omi-kun ok it seems I'm gonna have to intervene here and say that opera GX's adblocker still isn't good enough and interferes with specific elements on websites (like the upload button disappearing in a file sharing website or an anime selection suddenly disappearing on ... and on youtube, it almost never blocks ads. in fact, I would put its adblocker to be in the beta category if I could

PSA: Disable "Show Acceptable Ads." Every site sets their ads as "acceptable" even if they aren't, causing Adblock to not block them by default. You can disable the showing of acceptable ads by using the following steps: First, click on the extension icon. Then, click the gear. Finally, untick "Show Acceptable Ads."

I love this addon specifically because of the block element button, its so useful to block intrusive pop-ups that aren't considered "Ads" like adblock detectors and "sign-in to view" things that pop-up while I'm just trying to browse the web. It's been a life saver too with blocking videos that randomly play on certain websites!

this add on sucks it won't even stop advertisements from constantly interrupting every time I depress the the mouse...It's sooooo very aggravating... I bcan't even post this comment without trying many times...Opera your a big letdown, after years of using your browser it's become not unlike Safari and it sucks...

big problem with this extension is that, differently from other AD blockers, is is obscure what it is currently blocking on each webpage. All other Ad blockers will list the blocked tracker in a list in the popup window. Missing this is, hiding the essential. Transparency and functionality are compromised greatly. I constantly need to look at the blocked trackers to see if something useful has been trapped and why. Only solution is, disable ABP on the site and let the other blockers do their work. I CAN manage individual blocked trackers on the other blockers. So why ABP won't let their users to handle their needs in the info popup?

I find the Opera built in ad blocker to be excellent, but there are a few individual filters I wrote that I need.
So I have installed AdBlock Plus, disabled all the lists that come with it (mostly duplicating what Opera does by default), and just use it as a platform for my individual filters.

@sybil013: That sounds less like an Opera problem (I've used it for a while, never had such an issue), and more like a you problem.
If you took better care of your computer (I don't and I've never had these problems) then you'd not be having such issues. -

I discovered ABP accidentally in 2015 (at the time I was using Firefox) I have never abandoned it, my main use is to avoid advertising on Youtube; it is now also backed by Opera's "ABP" and I have never seen annoying advertisements while browsing again.
For me 5 stars
