@phill This is for everybody:
For those of you who are still struggling with the extension, e.g. constant notification from Opera saying you have installed the extension, cannot install etc etc. This is the solution:
Find on facebook the authors page "Fluff Busting Purity Development & Testing" Look in the first post dated 15.1.2026 within the post you will find a link and he tells you how to get it going. The link ends with "fbpurity.user.js". Uninstall your current version first, when you run this link, it will take you to (In my case) TemperMonkey straight away, and you install the extension there. FBP will be installed but without going through Opera's extension app, so no notification will ever pop up. If you want to deinstall it you have to do it through the script manager.

Sorry, i've been away from my computer, so couldnt respond to the issues people are having. Opera have mistakenly marked the extension as malicious and damaging to your computer. I have contacted them to get them to correct their mistake. Am waiting for a response. As others have noted, Opera can run Chrome extensions, and Google have approved the fbp update (that has the exact same code) so you can install the latest version of FBP by adding it from the Chrome Webstore at https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/fluff-busting-purity/nmkinhboiljjkhaknpaeaicmdjhagpep

We confirm that the latest update to v38.4.0.0 was broken on our side. We are doing our best to fix this issue.
Likewise, we'd like to ensure that the F.B.(FluffBusting)Purity extension is not malicious and @st333v is a verified developer with a very good reputation. -

FBP has become very erratic over the past few days. Sometimes it fails to work completely. Refreshing the FB page sometimes kick-starts it, but sometimes this has to be done several times before it starts working.. This morning, however many times I refresh, I still get unwanted ads in my feed.

@randomcatmom: I installed version 38.4.0.0 when it was released in January this year. As far as I can tell, there is no newer version. What do you mean by "developer version 135.0.5960"? I cannot find anything about that. Forgive me if I seem slow, but I'm just an ordinary user!

@randomcatmom I just checked the FBP Facebook page, as I've done several times in the past few weeks, since FBP stopped blocking ads. Nothing had been posted until now suddenly there a a couple of posts from people experiencing the same problem and who are saying that FBP is now dead. The author has not been heard from for months and no updates are available. You may have just downloaded the last version, and no doubt it works to some extent (i.e. it blocks posts from groups and pages you don't follow), but I'm afraid if you aren't already finding that ads are slipping through, they will do so eventually. The author of FBP was constantly having to update the extension as FB found ways of getting around it, and if no updates are available from now on, it will become useless - as indeed it already is, from my point of view.

@Barrgi Its a cat and mouse game. Facebook rolls out new code and if the extension is not updated then that is it.
I switched to Adguard and with Google AI added custom Rules to Adguard and will see how that goes.
Apart from the Ads, I dont want Groups you may like, People you may know and Suggested Reels.
