Invisible text

Opera 12.17 1863 I often get invisible text that can be read only by highlighting or by forcing use of my own style sheet. I've disabled all extensions. What else can I change?

I set "Fit to Width" and it made no difference.
Here is a page on which most of the text is invisible unless highlighted:http://www.cslb.ca.gov/GeneralInformation/About/BasicFactsAboutCslb.asp
"Anyone performing construction work etc etc" is invisible but can be highlighted.
My .css changes the background to white, making the text visible -- with author formatting.
My fonts style has no effect.

I just realized, "my css" here is Opera's "high contrast" style.
The problem remains unless I always use that Opera imposition on style. -

That page displays fine here in Opera 12.17.
Are you sure you're in "author mode" in Tools>Preference Settings>Advanced>Content>Style Options?
Make sure you haven't got that over-ridden in site preferences.

I'm in "author mode" It is not overridden as far as I can tell.
The high-contrast "important" style is necessary to see most of the text here:http://www.cslb.ca.gov/GeneralInformation/About/BasicFactsAboutCslb.asp
IF I know there is hidden text, I can highlight and see it. IF I know.

If you go into the Style Options menu (Menu > View > Style > Manage Modes... > Presentation Modes, under the "Author mode" column, are "Page style sheet" and "Page fonts and colors" checked, and is "My fonts and colors" unchecked?

This "invisible text" problem is a real nuisance. Here is a page of my own which is ok in other browsers but has invisible text (unless highlighted) http://frontal-lobe.info/bph/bphdrugs.html
I have experimented with Style Options. The text becomes visible if I impose a style such as Opera's own Accessibility option.
What's wrong with my Opera 12.17--1863 in XP 32bit ???

I've been experimenting like crazy. In Opers:config I jiggled the colors and seem to have solved my problem. I now see a WHITE background. (what happens to a page with white text remains to be seen.)

Well, it works fine in Opera 28. Might be time to considered putting Opera 12 to bed.

Sometimes Opera 12 has render problems with bad (X)HTML(5) code which is not valid Markup. That was always a problem in past with some sites.
