Thanks. Malwarebytes found only some "harmless?" stuff and I'll follow your suggestions.

According to Malwarebytes, this is an outgoing malware, i.e. from Opera. This would be perhaps a virus someone has imbedded in my Opera. Anyone experience this?

I'm getting malware warnings when using Opera.

I have same problem on at least two websites. The source of one showed a font nightmare -- crazy.
Two solutions: switch to user view
or use the ComicSans extension.
(actually, I like the happy readability of Comic Sans)

third solution: dump those websites instantly -- irresponsible owners

This morning all seems well -- loading in 5-10 seconds.
I may have done more than one thing -- bad practice.
For one, I turned Opera Turbo OFF.
Perhaps by coincidence, my WiFi machine had to be re-installed yesterday, it's failure was total, not just slowness. Seems unlikely to have been my stalling problem.
Could Opera Turbo have been my problem?

I have Opera "wide open" re Javascript, cookies, etc etc -- I disabled all two extensions.
Many sites stall, here are typical stall points, which vary, e.g.:

My Opera 12.17 -1863 on XP goes to 37/56 for example, stalls there.
By stopping loading and restarting, I may eventually get a full load.
Never happens on my simple web pages but on many others.
It has become a serious problem. Interminable waiting if no good.

Please don't tell me to upgrade Windows and Opera. Please.
(I've been using Opera for many years and hate other browsers.)

I've been experimenting like crazy. In Opers:config I jiggled the colors and seem to have solved my problem. I now see a WHITE background. (what happens to a page with white text remains to be seen.)

This "invisible text" problem is a real nuisance. Here is a page of my own which is ok in other browsers but has invisible text (unless highlighted) http://frontal-lobe.info/bph/bphdrugs.html

I have experimented with Style Options. The text becomes visible if I impose a style such as Opera's own Accessibility option.

What's wrong with my Opera 12.17--1863 in XP 32bit ???
