Opera is unusably slow, nothing happens for AGES.
Frankly I'd be better going back to dial up modems than wasting my good money on broadband when performance is so slow it takes several minutes do to anything.
Got to go back to Firefox or something.
I've tried tweaking settings and enabling turbo and even reinstalled it.
I give up. Shame really - I rather liked it, but I can't get on and get anything done now, so it has to go.

OP ... I'm running the latest version of Opera on Windows 10. It's as fast as Firefox, if not faster.
Have you done a system scan for possible malware? (try Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware).
Also check to see in the system Task Manager what other (unnecessary) applications may be running.

OP, same issue for me. SInce last update, Opera is superbly slow. Whole browser, itself.. and page loading. When they introduced this super bright theme.. it was very very slow. then immediatelly another update, which kind of almost sorted it... but still impossible to use the bloody browser...

I'm running Version:60.0.3255.60 on Windows 10 Pro and having the same slowness issue. Reading GMail is painful.
