      Hi, I develop web sites, when working locally, I use .local extentions on the url, how can I configure opera to browse those sites without using http on the address instead of using the search engine?

      thanks

        You use the file protocol, of course.

          @sgunhouse I want to use http, the problem is that opera does not recognize the .local as a valid internet domains and instead of going to the address I type, it goes to duckduckgo

            Oh, is that what you mean? Are you actually running a local web server?

                An extension wouldn't matter, you mean TLD though (like .com or .org) and that is where Opera is having trouble with it.

                    Not being a web developer myself, may I ask what filetype are those .local ones? If it is like .url, there may be a solution.

                        How does file identify a .local file? For a .url, file says
                        $ file sergeistrelec.ru.URL
                        sergeistrelec.ru.URL: MS Windows 95 Internet shortcut text (URL=<http://sergeistrelec.ru/>), ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators

                          The .local is a domain.
