Hi @concretable, about which case scenario do you speak? if you mean, when the #new-md-settings is disabled, then I think not, because old Settings layout seems to be abandoned, and the flag is removed in the current Beta and Developer.The case I mean is simply trying to open Preferences, and having the browser crash. I did disable the new md settings in version 56, and that did not seem to cause any problem with that version. Why would I not want to see a padlock if it is appropriate?

Hi @concretable, it seemed to crash the Opera, when the flag was disabled, then the new Settings layout was introduced, and some time after the flag was removed. What this has in common with the padlock?
