Hi @concretable, about which case scenario do you speak? if you mean, when the #new-md-settings is disabled, then I think not, because old Settings layout seems to be abandoned, and the flag is removed in the current Beta and Developer.

The case I mean is simply trying to open Preferences, and having the browser crash. I did disable the new md settings in version 56, and that did not seem to cause any problem with that version. Why would I not want to see a padlock if it is appropriate?

What this has in common with the padlock?
