@rogas86 I'm not sure if this is so but I suspect that sync was simply disabled for older versions. Can not update the browser? The latest stable version is 58.0.3135.53.
My proposals for changes in Opera (Google Document).

I'm not sure either. However, recently there was an issue with Opera 36 and Sync and Opera fixed the issue. So, there's a chance older versions are still supported.
