Can you please bring back Opera blog? google plus is shutting down, people need another place, this would be the perfect time, make it free with paid available options for certain extra features.

What Opera blogs? Official ones are at https://blogs.opera.com
If you mean the old My Opera blogs that users could create, I don't see any reason for them to be brought back. There are several services around there to host a blog.

I agree with you. I see that Vivaldi have done this and it seems to me to be a good marketing ploy that creates community better than any forum could ever do. Along with thousands of other Opera users, I created a blog on the My Opera site many years back and was very disappointed when the announcement came that the service was being shut down. I firmly believe this gesture on the part of the new owners would go a long way in attracting former users back to the fold.

@leocg My Opera was very active and when it was shutting down, plenty of people were upset and wanted them to keep it. I don't know if you are serious with your comment, but My opera was the best blog, these blog sites today failed in comparison.

I have a blog on vivaldi.net, not that I use it all that much. Their blog engine is Wordpress compatible and of course free.

Maintaining a blog means incurring some degree of responsibility in certain locales for what's posted there, meaning the incurring of policing costs. E.g. spamming becomes rife without relentless screening, which requires resources - meaning costs. 'Hate speech' can appear and incur legal sanctions in some venues without costly and continual screening, usually human. And, of course, there's server costs (along with necessary backup, credentialing, etc).
A business has to balance those costs/risks against what it perceives to be the potential rewards, and that inevitably has to consider their marketing strategy regarding what the target market might be for the business's product(s). No two businesses will come down the same way in deciding whether/how to proceed in all this. Vivaldi chooses to provide blogging; Opera once provided it, but no longer does. YMMV.

Yes, I'm serious. I don't see why a browser maker should offer a blog hosting service for its users when there are lots of those services around there.
Like was said, there's a high cost on it and almost no revenue.If they decided to close My Opera in the past, it was because they realized that keeping the service wasn't worth.

@leocg It depends on what one sees as "worth it". Whereas there are plenty of services providing these opportunities, they take people away from Opera rather than remaining here. If a little startup like Vivaldi can find a way to provide this service, surely Opera can do the same. It's marketing and it has a tendency to keep the users loyal and at the site rather than simply coming every so often to find a fix for something. Why do so many people have such good memories of Opera's My Opera if not for the blog and the community that was formed? This is a golden opportunity for the new owners to create something akin to the old loyal community and they'd be well advised to institute it.

Help bringing some revenue or avoiding losing the current one, like in any business.

It's not a matter of can do, of course Opera could provide such service, but a matter of want to. And for me, the fact that they ended My Opera years ago mean that they don't want to provide it.
Don't you think that their decision to end My Opera showed that keeping a community just don't work (or at least didn't) to help bringing new users? I think. So I guess it may not be a good marketing.

Of course there are people who miss My Opera but I'm not really sure that they are that many. And there also people who don't miss the 'community'.
And it's not a service that makes a community, it's the people in it. If those so-called loyal users wanted, they could have continued talking about Opera here or in the official blogs. Or wherever they want.

Okay. You may be right. There's no way to really determine it one way or the other. My suspicion is that it is a service that they won't be providing so I suppose the conversation is moot. Stay strong, Leo.
