Should be fixed on next stable build.

It has been moved from the "Opera for Windows"-forum to the "Opera for computers"-forum, probably because not only Windows is affected, but also other desktop operating systems.

OK, the topic is getting longer and the Opera team still has not provided a solution ...

Whenever I opened a new tab, I could immediately find a page, now after opening the card I have to press the search bar specifically. Can I change it back?

Since i've had Opera, I could start typing whenever I opened a new tab, without the need of having to click on the search bar, but since a few days ago, when i open a new tab, i'm forced to click on the search bar in order to start typing, and it's really annoying .
I think i accidentally activate this with a keyboard shortcut (?) but I can't figure out which one. Thanks in advice

Hello there,
For example, in chrome, when we press the new tab key on edge, the auto-pointer is activated in the address bar, but not in the opera. Does this have a solution?

@leocg Ok, but why i can't see it anymore in "OPERA FOR WINDOWS" topics?
Because it has been moved (not copied) from there.

@yanta Is that sure?
If you go to the OPERA FOR COMPUTERS-forum and then scroll down, you will find your (this) thread. So yes, it is sure.

@nicohane It's not you or your shortcuts; it's the most recent Opera version that has this bug. It's going to be fixed in the next update, afaik. For now, I suggest you get used to pressing Tab when opening a new tab with the "+" button, as that will focus the address bar.

Same problem here. I even created a topic for this issue before seeing this one. Sorry Opera admins. Hope you delete that topic before going online.
Anyway, this problem is annoying and it's not the first time it happened. It almost make me wish to try blocking any future updates. -

Win7 x64
This problem appeared after the latest update 55.0.2994.56, the previous 55.something was fine.
Normal course of action used to be:
- open new tab
- start typing in the address or search word
- open the desired site
Now it is:
- open new tab
- start typing in the address or search word (nothing happens)
- grab the mouse and click on the address field (if I press Tab it activates the search field, not the address field)
- repeat #2
- open the desired site
I never imagined something small like this could be quite so annoying.

Hey guys! Since the latest update, the address bar isn't active after I press CTRL+T to open a new tab.
After opening a new tab, I type some stuff and then look up at the screen to see it didn't appear, so I have to click (or press tab) to activate the bar and type again.
Could you put the cursor back into the address bar after opening a new tab?
