  • The new Opera 55.0.2994.37 has a quite different Settings interface. Under Privacy & security it has 'Keep local data only you quit your browser' and further down 'Block', 'Clear on exit' and 'Allow' - these all relate to 'Sites'.

Is the 'Clear on exit' option to enable deleting data from specific sites on exit, even when the 'Keep local data until you quit your browser' option is OFF?

  • Sure. All cookies for that site get marked as session cookies and so are automatically deleted on exit. Not completely certain about other types of "local data", but it probably uses the same mechanism.

  • Well thanks for that.

One more think I have noticed on the Settings for Opera v 55 with Win 8. I disabled Video pop outs:

'Enable Video pop out' - OFF

And yet still the damn things pop out all over the place, only thing being that their sound now seems to be muted. Is this a known problem?

  • Do you mean that the video pop-out icon still shows up when you watch a video?

  • @leocg
No, I mean that on some web pages containing videos they will still automatically 'pop out' and start playing in a box at the bottom right of the screen and I have to close them down.; though at least their audio is now muted.

I assumed the option Enable Video pop out referred to this phenomenon.

  • Video pop-out has nothing to do with it. Video pop-out is a feature of Opera to allow you to watch a video on, for example, YouTube even being in another page.
