I have to assume that little orange triangle is an indication, since I discovered days later that some of my mail messages didn't go, but it would certainly be helpful if there were a way to know WTF happened.

You can activate the lofile for sending mails.

        • Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Opera\Opera\mail\accounts.ini
        • Find the sction of problematical mail account by sarching the line Account Name= with your senders mail address
        • Insert the line
          Outgoing Log File=C:\outgoing-mail.log
          or
          Outgoing Log File={Home}Desktop/accountN_outlog.txt
to store the log (you may enter a path to your documents folder instead of C:\ !) see http://operawiki.info/LogMail
But stay secure, delete the line after knwoing the problem. Why? Passwords are logged in clear text in the file!

You can also add the lines below to operaprefs.ini:

          [User Prefs]
          Console Error Log Enabled=1

This way the errors will be logged and you can check what is happening.

Also, in the account's properties, retype your username and password for the outgoing server. Make sure you have TLS checked and are using port 465 or 587. Set Authentication to auto.
