I just installed the new Opera Touch and I can't figure out where the heck they've hidden the bookmarks! You can't use a browser without bookmarks so why make it hard to find? Can anyone clue me in to the secret hiding place?

@jtgd In fact, the bookmarks are the start page. You just leave the page icon there for the time you want, just like in Neon.

@leocg That's crazy. How do I maintain large numbers of bookmarks? When I sync bookmarks from my desktop, where do they go? How do I search for a bookmark (or something on the start page), or do I just scroll forever? Are they using History as if it was bookmarks? Do they simply assume all visited sites are bookmarked and then I have to delete anything I DON'T want to be bookmarked?

Is this just an oversight? Is there any hope that Opera will come to their senses and give us bookmarks, like every other browser in the universe?

@jtgd There's no sync in Touch, except for opened tabs from the computer it's paired with.

@jtgd I guess Touch is for those that don't use bookmarks or don't have that many ones.
For those people, having the most visited pages on the start page should be enough.

And Flow. That's sort of like a timeline or wall - anything you send to Flow (by tapping the Flow icon in the addressbar of the desktop version) appears in Flow on both versions, so you can use it to send links back and forth. It's not bad, but you still have to remember passwords the first time. (I haven't used it enough to be sure, but I think on Touch you use that pop-ups menu button at the bottom to send to Flow or to close tabs.)

Barring the fact some screens don't support Landscape orientation (as I have a tablet, that is a big deal) and the passwords, it actually seems pretty good.

@sgunhouse Needing to go to my desktop to get a bookmark and then 'flowing' it to the phone sort of defeats the purpose of having a browser on your phone.

@leocg Yeah I guess Touch is not for me. But it's a worrisome trend. If removing such a critical feature of the browser and then calling it "innovation" is the direction Opera is heading, then Opera may not for me. Sad, since I've been a big fan of Opera since the days it fit on one floppy disk -- over 20 years.

@jtgd For me, bookmarks should have been removed from browsers a long time ago and I've been saying it since a while.
They simply don't make that much sense nowadays as they did 20, 10 years ago. Finding a page is much more easy as well as keep them for future reference.
I don't see bookmarks as something that belongs to the future of browsers.

@leocg I am ok with this, but I still need my Speed Dials, where I store my pending searches. When you find a link on the 5th page of google, you don't want to lose it 🙂
Maybe an option to add Speed Dial in Flow ?

@mmichel It's kinda automatic, the most visited pages should be on start page. Don't know if there is a way to manually do it.

You can post to Flow from either device. Put your finger on the menu button and slide up and right to the Flow icon ... hmm, not sure about links,

Visited links will be on home page, and the more you visit them they'll rise to the top.

@leocg You say, "For me, bookmarks should have been removed from browsers a long time ago and I've been saying it since a while.
They simply don't make that much sense nowadays "

Disagree with you, Leo. I have MANY arcane bookmarks that took me a long time to discover that involved MUCH searching. To abandon those bookmarks would be a kind of browser suicide for me. Who wants to try to retrace the steps I took to have found those sites in the first place, much work went into finding them

Removing bookmarks from mobile browser is a strange innovative idea. I thought that bookmarks will be improved in the new version, such as their accessibility and easy transfer to laptop but I didn't think you would remove it all together. The flow feature is great but I would like to be able to save long searched web pages in a specific place without scrolling through anything. Very bad idea. Unless if bookmarks return, will be using the old version of Opera.

I've submitted a comment in this topic and it haven't been posted for some reason. Can someone explain why the Bookmarks were removed from the new browser? It seems to me that just saying that it's not relevant anymore is not a good answer. I've been using Opera for a very long time and I would like to use Opera Touch but I would like to have Bookmarks feature available and easy to access. Otherwise I'm not using it, staying on the old version or switching to other alternatives, which are plenty out there.

@azotovant They couldn't have been removed since they never existed in Opera Touch.

I guess the idea is that you will have your most visited sites on the start page, so you don't need to bookmark them.

Not sure, but Touch does not mean the end of the development of Opera Browser for Android. Personally I have no plans to install Touch and will continue with the normal Android Opera Browser, which has served me well.
