OMG!!!! I fricking HATE the "news for you" on my speed dial page! Please remove it. It reminds me of a sleazy online tabloid. I already have news sources I use regularly and this mess certainly isn't going to be one of them. I don't even use MSN, Yahoo or other news sources like this because of very cluttered webpages.

@onthehunt You should be able to disable it in start page settings.

@leocg I cannot find any setting that will allow me to disable the news feed on my speed dial page. Please provide steps to do that. Thank you.

@l33t4opera as long as this remains optional and can be disabled and the access to personal news in sidebar stays, i think nothing speaks against this. i personally prefer not to have this on my speed dial. i prefer the personal news in the sidebar.

You think you know, but you have no idea.

@leocg Yes, advanced settings is checked and these are the start page options:

                Start page
                Hide search box
                Hide Speed Dial
                Hide "Add a site" button
                Show Speed Dial suggestions
Adjust Speed Dial animations for slower hardware
                Maximum number of columns:

Please provide instructions how to disable the news posts.

@onthehunt You need to open the easy setup dialog to do that.

The change log, and the announcement.

"Welcome to our weekly developer update. Today, we have a bunch of fixes included, together with the performance improvements.

                      - We fixed the font size on user interface labels (it was much smaller than regular font size).
                      - “Open New Tab” is not slow anymore for macOS users with Touch Bar.
                      - We’ve fixed badly scaled spinner, and mute icons for DPI > 225%.
                      - Opera icon is visible now in O Menu on Linux.
                      - Wikipedia search engine icon is now visible for dark theme."

                        • 1 sidebar?
                        • web panels?

Since Opera 53.0.2885.0 developer (also Opera 53.0.2893.0) i get a system message when opening a URL if it comes from an external program (IRC link, help link from LibreOffice, etc.).

                                Error
                                German:

Der vorgegebene Internetnavigator konnte nicht gestartet werden.
                                Eingabe-/Ausgabefehler

                                English:

Failed to execute default Web Browser.
                                Input/output error

Site opens, but with the stupid system dialog.

No dialog with Opera developer 53.0.2880.0, Opera stable, Firefox, Vivaldi
The dialog only opens if Opera Dev ⋝ 53.0.2885.0 is the default browser.
                                command line:
exo-open URL with dialog (exo-open starts the default browser)
                                opera-developer URL without dialog

                                OS: Siduction 64bit
                                DE: Xfce 4.12

Can anybody confirm that, or what is the mistake?

                                          New update - Opera developer 53.0.2900.0 ;-)

The change log, and the announcement.

"Since spring is just around the corner, we’re doing some spring cleaning in Opera developer 53. You’ll find improvements to tabs’ display, especially with several of them opened, and some new colors for the address bar in this build.

                                          Optimized display of tabs

Recently, for Mac users, it’s been difficult to find and manage a particular tab when many of them are open. We figured out a way to optimize this and make your plentiful tabs’ favicons more visible. Let’s see how it changed:

To make it even more visible, clicking on a tab will expand it to make it easier to manage.

There is also a fresh, sharpened coloring done to the address bar.

                                          Other highlights:
                                          - Windows 10 bug with an empty pop-up, when text is selected by a touch screen is fixed.
                                          - Opera will install on Ubuntu 18.04, Bionic.
                                          - Touch bar is fixed (macOS).
                                          - Missing translations added."

                                          Known issues:

                                          - Tabs previews can be broken.
                                          - Capturing full page by Snapshot doesn’t work.
                                          - Issues with saving as PDF..

The Chromium has been updated to version 66.0.3355.4.

                                          ☕   🖖   🍺

@l33t4opera You need to sign this version (53) so that password manager extension like 1Password will correctly identify the browser as Opera and work again. The 1Password extension works fine in the beta version and did work in all previous dev versions.
