I recently reinstalled opera and now i notice it uses over 2GB of ram for 3 open tabs... (Facebook, Gmail, Reddit). That seems an awful lot for that, any way to reduce ram usage?

Look at How to report problems in Opera steps.
For the clean profile:
- Opera Help > Find solutions.
| - And rename the profile folder -.
Also look at here.

@cyneadrift
I also recommend the program proposed by the zalex108. I use it myself less than a year and I can say it works better than other similar programs of this type.
In addition, you can set it under yourself, for example, to reduce the memory of only the browser processes. -

But is using ca. 2 GB for a few pages normal?
I'm seeing the same in 50.0.2762.45 on WIN10-64 and experiencing a very slow and unresponsive Opera after latest stable update. Clean profile.

@vegelund
Do you mean you've tested in a clean profile with the same result?

Just did a fresh install of Opera, after deleting everything related to Opera on disk.
Can't figure out how browser behavior changed so dramatically after 50 update.

Any system update between the Opera update?

The KB4056892 update was around the Opera release. (No other changes in settings, hardware or my Opera browser routine.)
Latest Chrome and Firefox act snappy and normal.

I have not encountered any problem here, but I'm on W10 Anniversary Update.
Then,
If happens on a clean install... and nothing significant has changed on the system... don't know what could be the reason.
You could try to test on a O49 version as StandAlone and check the difference, then should be reported as a Bug if needed.

Thanks. I’m sure it’s a local issue on my side, otherwise tons of people would notice this lag and choppy performance after the 50 stable update.
