I've noticed a number of websites aren't responding in Opera the way they should. This includes direct logins (e.g. booking.com) or logins via social media accounts, which work fine using Chrome, Edge, IE and others. In other cases I have been unable to use drop-down boxes or calendar pop-ups, or to place orders. Opera seems to be blocking way too much functionality. I've tried turning off ad-blocking and this seems to help a little, but not completely. The degradation is so bad that I'm likely to stop using Opera.

@disillusioned No idea what the problem is but I have also noticed a few sites not behaving correctly. Logging in is a problem on a couple and at least one other errors when attempting to purchase something. The independeant (www.independent.co.uk) doesn't log me in, for example. Other browsers work correctly. So far not too many sites are problematic for me to give up on Opera.

@disillusioned Does it still happens with all extensions disabled and with a clean profile? What about disabling any security/privacy software that you may be using?

@leocg I only have the Disconnect extension and disabling it (and Opera ad blocker) makes no difference.

@cozza What about the clean profile directory?

@leocg Not sure what you mean by clean profile - Windows user profile? Seems a bit extreme. Disabling security/privacy software is a no-no, as other browsers don't have this problem and security software is there for a good reason.

@disillusioned I mean to create a new Opera profile by renaming the current one so you can check if the problem is not being caused by a broken profile.
And disabling security software is to check if it's not causing the problem.

@leocg Created a clean profile and disabled security software but independent.co.uk still wont let me sign in. Agree with disillusioned, shouldn't have to disable security software. All other major browers tested work as expected. Opera 46 was the last version I can think of that didn't have any issues as far as I can tell.

                      Try with a User-agent extension.

@leocg Don't understand "Opera profile". I haven't created an Opera profile, there is nothing in settings about it and nothing in help. (Spoiler - I've seen a few internet posts that mention manually editing ini files, etc - my view is that a solution needs to work for all users, not just those who are happy with this!)
@cozza I'll try with v46 and see if it works better. After all, it's Christmas and I have time on my hands 🙂

@disillusioned Menu > About Opera. There you will find the path to Opera's profile directory.
