Ive got v.50 and had the same problem but somehow by luck i found a solution or at least partial. Right click on the screen anywhere select Add to speed dial and presto its worked for me on the site i was trying to get on, it didn't work for my homepage but i have not added that to speed dial, but try it and see what happens

even when the VPN issue is resolved, while downloading files the old issue of network interrupted issue is still there. Downloads get stopped after a few seconds.

Just done the update to V49.0.2725.56. When using the VPN I now find the choice is limited to Americas or Europe whereas it used to have 6 specific countries. Is this a so called upgrade to a degraded option in this new version. Is there any way to restore the previous 6 specific counties

@alanchippy Nope. The new VPN uses regions instead of countries.

More dumbing down it seems. I wonder why they have decided on the downgrade.

@alanchippy It's not in the dumbing-down category. Opera has simply elected to operate new VPN servers, following it's sale of its SurfEasy VPN subsidiary back in September. The departure of SurfEasy's network of VPN servers means Opera has to arrange and operate other ones, along with the browser updates to accomplish connection with them.

Thanks for the post which does explain the reason. It is however still a downgrade in terms of performance and choice even if it was a necessary change. Guess I will have to find a paid for VPN which does what I need now. Can't complain as the Opera VPN was free and worked very well except for the last week or so which presumably was due to the change of servers.

if you're going to use another vpn grab the free version of browsec. no bandwidth throttling.

Anyone else noticed getting bounced from server to server, it can be as often as every 30-60 seconds or 10 minutes.
Even on this forum, i'm getting messages saying connection to site lost flashing up at bottom right.Europe and Americas both do the same.
I'm using opera-beta........since i can't get openload.co and vidto.me videos to work (they only stopped working in the last few days) But the VPN in opera-stable is just as bad for stability. Most times it gets reconnected within 10 seconds, last night it was just getting stuck on trying to connect.
Load balancing gone nutts? or overcrowding?

Yes the last couple days Opera VPN hasn't had the best stability.
This does seem to happen on occasion. -

Just tried a download using both VPN regions and max speed is 1.2Mb/s on an 80Mb/s Fibre connection. Turning off the VPN during the download results in 79Mb/s. VPN problem it seems as it was OK yesterday.

today vpn is not useful againOpera User since Version 3.x

Still the same today, worse than useless with max download speed is 1.3Mb/s and frequent disconnections only when using the VPN.
