Just done the update to V49.0.2725.56. When using the VPN I now find the choice is limited to Americas or Europe whereas it used to have 6 specific countries. Is this a so called upgrade to a degraded option in this new version. Is there any way to restore the previous 6 specific counties

Still the same today, worse than useless with max download speed is 1.3Mb/s and frequent disconnections only when using the VPN.

RE: Default open opera on startupOpera for Windows
@leocg said in Default open opera on startup:
@alanchippy Did you check the On Startup section in settings page? What about Easy Setup?
Hi
Thanks for the reply. Sorry for late response from me but I thought I would get a notification if there were any replies. I had not set the prefs correctly.
I did look at "Startup" and think I have found the reason. For some reason "Run when my Computer starts" was ticked. I always set opening page to "about:blank" so how it was changed I do not know, probably due to the sync function I guess. Anyway it seems to be OK now so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Regards Alan

Default open opera on startupOpera for Windows
For some time the default action when starting Win 11 22H2 has been to open the Opera browser. It seems that opera creates a start up instruction in the start up folder. If I delete it then it is recreated the next time I open Opera. I do not want to open Opera every time I start up and I have to spend time closing it down before continuing with what I want to do.
Is there a way to prevent this default action. I have searched settings and
opera:flags. Although I have used Opera as my default browser for several years I will uninstall it if I am unable to defeat this process so that Opera only loads when I want it to. -

@haba Same thing happened to me. It was the anti-virus software on my computer. Try disabling it and then try VPN again.
There was a problem with MalwareBytes yesterday but that is a malware program not an anti virus program. If it was MalwareBytes causing you a problem just open it and update it several times manually

No it's not just you. You could also try updating to 50.0.2762.67 and see if that helps. Not hopeful though.

RE: IS VPN with problem now?Opera for computers
Have now got used to being ignored by Opera staff. What a shame as it was a good browser which seemed to be responsive to its users. Badly disappointed as Opera still have not commented and it shakes my confidence in how Opera will continue to have the confidence of its users.

*Well well well !
It's important to be honest. As I live and breath, I have just installed tonight's update. 14th Jan 2018 at 00:39 GMT/UTC in London, UK, version 50.0.2762.58.
Looks like they've fixed it. About time.
37.31Mbps on a 37Mbps incoming fibre line.Let's hope they don't put us through that again...*
You must be the lucky one. I am on a 78Mb/s Zen Fibre with d/l of 77.4Mb/s with VPN off and between 0.5 and 3Mb/s with optimum VPN on. Also running same version as you. Definately not fixed.

Hey guys everything is explained here: http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2017/12/opera-49-updated-renewed-vpn/
But how long is "soon" and when will there be as much bandwidth as before?
Yes but even more complaints than found here.
I am really disappointed that Opera does not issue updated info about this problem so we are all aware that something is being done about it instead of leaving us in the dark.

@vpnuser3333 All regions mentioned on the blog post are already available.
Maybe, but available does not mean performance is usable.
