Problem with History

  • I've just come to Opera from Firefox and so far am loving it but for some reason, it doesn't save my history after I reboot the computer. (Firefox always did) When windows starts and I load Opera, I'm faced with my start page. When I check the history, if I click on "yesterday" there is nothing. Can this be rectified in the settings anywhere as I'd love to just continue with all my open tabs the next day. Thank you in advance

  • Are you closing Opera before rebooting the computer? Only history is not saved? There are any entries in History?

I'd love to just continue with all my open tabs the next day.

Just use the option to 'Continue where I was' in Settings.

  • Hi - it doesn't matter when I close Opera down or not and yes, only the history is not saved and no there are no entries in the history - sorry for the newbie question, but I can't find the just use the continue where I was option

  • sorry - I found the setting as yes it's set to that anyways

  • Sorry - this is a tad confusing so to reiterate

    1. Regardless whether or not I close Opera down before rebooting - it doesn't save my history either way

    2. The setting is already set for "continue where I was"

    3. The history is always blank after reboot

  • Regardless whether or not I close Opera down before rebooting - it doesn't save my history either way

Are you using a private window by chance as you don't mention this?

Is yes, your speed dial (start page) should remain intact, but sites you visited previously (history) should be gone.

What version Opera are you using?

I always use private window (as I am now) so hope my comment may assist. (Posted from dev v50).

What about settings, saved passwords, bookmarks, etc? They are saved?

The setting is already set for "continue where I was"

And when you re-started Opera it doesn't show your opened tabs?

  • Hi leocg - I don't have any passwords saved. Bookmarks are still there. And No - it doesn't show my opened tabs - that's what I'm asking about - it's not saving them even though It's set to save them

  • So - again last night - closed computer down, started it up this morning and same thing. No Tabs - and history is blank - it says NO HISTORY ITEMS IN THIS RANGE. This is very annoying as I don't want to go back to firefox as it's very laggy and stops responding but at least it keeps my tabs and history - surely there has to be a fix/answer for this??

  • It continues to happen with extensions, if any, disabled and with a clean profile folder?

  • yes - a complete reinstall of it and it's still doing the same - however I've added - checked the history again this morning and nothing - empty again. I've changed the setting to open browser with specific pages - I add them last thing at night if I want to keep them open and the next morning they all load but I shouldn't have to do it like that. Oh well. Seems there isn't a solution to it 😞

  • Try deleting the files 'Current session' and 'Last session' from Opera's profile. Then start Opera, open some pages, close Opera and open it again to see if those tabs appears.

  • nope - didn't work....Not to worry, at least I can do it via a workaround. Thanks for all your suggestions and help anyway leocg.

  • Oh, forgot to say that you should use 'start from where i was' in settings for the test.
