Hello. I clicked a link to something on twitter today and it popped out into a new window. is there any way to get links to open into new tabs. i feel as if opera used to do it but now its changed or something?

If the link uses javascript to specify a size for the new page, it will open in a new window so as not to change the size of the current window. If the link does not specify a size, then it will open in a tab. That's how Opera works currently. Is there some way to change it? Not that I know of, except that an extension might remove the window size specified in the link.
