I am using opera 44. But wish to install the latest stable version to see what it's like. How can I have 2 versions installed?

Install one as a "standalone version". In the installer click on Options, then change the install location, then make sure the dropdown indicates a standalone install (as opposed to all users or single-user). It will not pick up your bookmarks or settings from the other version; it'll be a completely new and separate install.

Or you can download and run the portable installer.

Installed portable on usb and copied bookmarks. Is there some reason why I can't install portable on the C drive?

Answered: No reason. Copied to C: and works fine.
