The new "Show Password" dialogue

Hello,
Opera 49 seems to have modified the way you can access your passwords. Now I am asked my user name and given additional options if I want to access my passwords. Problem is, it doesn't work.
What I have is a Windows 10x64 where I have it logged with a normal account that I am quite sure is "local" (whatever the steps were necessary so it automatically logs in when I boot). I don't know all my passwords by heart, so I sometimes accessed Opera password list to see the ones I couldn't remember, and all I was asked for was the PC password - which was the same as the one that the hotmail/windows account has, and it was all fine.
Now I am getting this new dialogue and whatever I try it says the password is incorrect. My passwords are now completely out of my reach, even if I tested the password on Outlook and Live services and it works there, just to make sure. Trying the PIN option returns "The Data Area Passed to a System Call Is Too Small" error.
Please help.

Still broken in 49.0.2723.0 (PGO). Is this reported as a Chromium issue? Does the fix depend exclusively on Chromium devs? It's somewhat of a serious issue being unable to access your sensitive data.

Strange, works here. Windows 10 x64. It preselected my username (for Windows), I just entered the correct password and it worked.
Not for me, tried again.
I get a few choices. Neither works.
- email address+password - not working
- user name associated with the Windows account created with email above+password - not working
- More Choices clicked - PIN option - error "the data area passed to a system call is too small" after 2nd attempt, 1st attempt, nothing happens.
- More Choices clicked - last choice shows my account name/email, can be clicked, now asks for password - password doesn't work, incorrect
Yet again, to double check the password, went to https://outlook.live.com, signed out, signed back in with the very same password and email, works just fine.
I am not sure what is happening. Windows 10x64 Pro, Admin account.

50.0.2729.0, still broken, just like before.
I feel this is quite an important issue. I have basically lost access to all my passwords. Can we at least get it acknowledged? Do you need more data about the bug? I would be happy to help.

You probably won't see such thing here.
Do you need more data about the bug?
It's a Chromium issue so Google needs to fix it.
Alright so I went hunting for the bug on the web. There is a solution for this issue, what you need to do is run Opera with the "--disable-features=CredUIPromptForWindowsCredentials" flag, and it will return to the old behavior.
Now you will only be asked for your Windows password, and it's back to normal. Hope it helps others that might be stuc kin the same position I was.

If so, what if you don't have a Windows logon at all, like me??

As things have changed again, I thought I would drop and give an update.
- the --disable-features=CredUIPromptForWindowsCredentials" flag stopped working for me, sadly
- the new and "improved" dialogue shows now and all options work for me (if I enter my Microsoft account email as "user name", not the actual user name, including PIN
- this dialogue box always has more steps t ogo through compared to the old method
Anyway, happy it's fixed.

Does this forum really helpful ??Actually it's a Chromium's engine problem, Opera depends on them, so have to wait for them to fix it - don't know if Opera could do something to fix it by its side -.

I've been having this issue also and just tried something different. I thought it wanted my Microsoft Hotmail login information so I kept using my email address as the username which kept giving me an error. Have been doing this for several months now. But after reading this thread, I decided to try something different. While my Microsoft account is linked to my computer, when I boot up, that is not what is displayed when I log into my computer. What is displayed is my name, "Eric Mercer" (without the quotes obviously). So I decided to try that as the username and then my password. That worked for me. I hope that it will work for others as well.
