      Hi,
      New to this forum.
I like to play Bridge online at Bridge Base Online and it requires Flash. Using Opera developer 49.0 on my Dell desktop PC running Windows 10 I seem to be unable to get it to install and run. When I go to Opera setting and type in Flash I have three choices presented: The first one is Ask first before allowing site to run Flash (recommended). This setting is ticked on and is seemingly unchangeable. The second option is Click to play and when I try to change to this nothing happens. The third and last option is Block sites from running Flash. Not that that is the setting I want, even if I tried to make that setting the program won't change from the first option.

Any ideas how to get Flash to behave with this opera version? I can go to BBO using MS Edge but would prefer to stay in Opera if I could. Thanks.

Try adding the site as an exception.

Opera 49. Flash don't work. "Tty adding the site as an exception" - don't work.

Thank you. It works fine on normal window, but doesn't work on private window.

A private window does not allow plugins, since Opera has no control over what the plugin does. They can't assure privacy in that case.

                OS: Win7 Pro 32-bit.

Posting from developer v49.0.2711.0 using private window, Opera VPN and block ads.

The following site informs me: "You have no flash plugin installed" - http://www.skylinewebcams.com/

Have read above comments, tried suggestions, still not working on said site - (I do appreciate v49 still in development).

Up-to-date Flash installed on my system.

Please note: There are zero problems with above site on up-to-date Stable and beta streams.

You need to add the site as an exception for the private window but you will need to do it every time you use the private window. At least until the issue is fixed.

Thanks Leo. I'm certain it will receive a fix at some point during development.

I realised after the fact, that closing a private window also gets rid of the session data (cookies etc).

But as above, it's no big deal while in early development. 🆙

                      OS Win7 Pro 32-bit.

This post applies to developer v50.0.2729.0 via private window with Opera VPN and block ads enabled.

PC still informs me: "You have no flash plugin installed" from this site and all other sites that use Flash player.

Same applies whether window is private or not, with or without VPN and block ads.

Checked Flash Player up to date. Checker still says Flash not installed or enabled on my system.

Latest Flash version (v27.0.0.130) is installed, up and running.

I confirm there are zero problems with Flash player on up-to-date Stable and beta streams.

Happens on Chrome also, probably because Flash is now blocked by default by Chromium.

Clicking on the link to download Flash should trigger a dialog asking to allow Flash to run on that site but it doesn't seem to be happening in Opera.

Hi Leo, what impact is this likely to create for sites that require Flash?

I saw the dialogue prior to my previous posting and did "allow" Flash to run when doing my check to confirm Flash was properly installed. When returning to the site mentioned, it reverted back and didn't want to know in v50.

It is however interesting that Flash still operates as normal on current stable and beta versions. Thanks.

Probably none other than something like the one we are seeing on that page.

Because they don't use yet the version of Chromium that has these changes on how Flash is handled.

BTW, Flash is being deprecated so sites using Flash should start adapting themselves.

Thanks Leo. Would I be correct in saying sites are making a transition to HTML5 and away from Flash? (I realise this is slightly off topic).

Sites should be, whether they are is a separate question. Even Firefox will be dropping Flash support, so they have announced.

Having said that, if I go to the Adobe test page to see which version I have, I am unable to get it to work. Right-clicking the plugin icon and selecting Enable Flash does nothing.

Hi sgun - On test page a narrow dialogue appears at the top asking if you want to "allow" (as mentioned above). By allowing will then show your version, at least it did for me.

                                  Thanks for info Leo.

Flash does not work on any sites. The plugin does not turn on. Adding a site to exclusions does not work. Opera 50. Adobe Flash Player 27.0.0.130

Goto settings, Websites, Flash, Manage exceptions - Add the site you're having issues with and click "Done". Close settings window and reload at tab.

Flash Player will open the site, and other sites using flash. I post this from Dev v50.0.2739.0 and have found no problems using this method from Win7.

Be advised, if you add the site when using private window (as I do), the site will be removed when closing the browser so you'll need to add it again.

When you enable it, there will be a bar shown at the top of the web page saying "get.adobe.com wants to run Adobe Flash" with two buttons: Allow and Deny. Yeah, I know, you already said you wanted to enable it (from the context menu), but it does ask again. After that, it does work.
