Links do not open: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer

  • Hello,

I just installed Opera 47.0. After using it for a day I decided to uninstall mozilla firefox. I use microsoft outlook 2010 for reading email. Ever since I uninstalled firefox, if I click on a hyperlink in an email in outlook, I get the following message: "Links do not open: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer." Does anyone know how I can fix this? Opera is set as the default browser.

    Thank you,
    Steve

  • Outlook might have its own settings.

  • Check default browser again in Control Panel. Check also if Opera is set to open http and https protocols.

  • Do you have any anti-malware programs installed that use white-listing to permit opening a link? If so, check it to make sure Opera is replacing Firefox in that list.

  • Hello,

Everything with file associations is set correctly and the security software is set correctly.
