I have the same problem but only on my iPad. Computer and iPhone both work great. I saw another post saying to disable Usage Statistic reporting in settings, but that didn't work for me.

Same, it's really frustrating because I've been using opera since around 2010-ish.

Yea i dont know what causes this. I have tried turning usage reports off but nothing happens. Its sad cause i really enjoy the Opera browsing experience but the lack of support towards the Opera Mini is annoying.

Same problem for me, I wanted to switch to Opera and I get a connection error while trying to sync on iPhone ... If I can't sync I won't switch, in 2017 we all use daily different computers and devices, sync is a must-have.
I don't know what's going wrong, but after a few days of failures I'm worried about the service quality ... -

same here. can't log in on my new iPad for many days. Connect Error. Try again. What kind of error message is that? Disable usage statistics did not help. Please if anyone, like Opera experts can provide a solution. Or I may have to go back to Chrome. Sigh...

Sync should work properly for you now. We are really sorry for the problem!
The issue affected iOS users and some older versions of Opera Mini for Android.
