[Solved]Remove Search engine

  • I am trying to customise Opera. I want to remove the search engine that is between the URL box and my addons.
    I can't find any way to remove the search engine box. I have been reading the help files and it says there Settings -> Toolbar, but I cannot for the life of me find that toolbar option in the Settings.

    Am I doing something wrong, or just looking in the wrong place?

    Please help. Thanks.

  • You can do it in Start Page settings.

  • Nope. In the Start Page settings, I can have a search bar, IN the Start Page. I want to remove the one that is right beside the URL box, directly above the page where websites are displayed.

    I wish I could insert a screen shot to show you what I mean. Maybe this will make it a little clearer.

    First line/bar -> Opera Menu btn, Tabs

    2nd Line/bar ->
    Back btn, Forward btn, Reload btn, Speed Dial btn URL box[VPN; Page Info; URL] [Search box] {Addons}

    Main Screen -> Web page displayed

    When I, in the Start Page, clicked on the settings button on the top right hand corner, all that allowed me to do was to turn on/off the search bar in the Start Page, directly above the Speed Dials.

  • I want to remove the one that is right beside the URL box, directly above the page where websites are displayed.

    Go to settings > Browser > user interface and un-check 'show search box in address bar' (or something like that). You may need to enable advanced settings.

  • Superb. Found it. Thank you.
