Love that i can use Chrome extensions with opera, awesome! But how to change the default "new tab" button to recognize another speed dial such as FVD speed dial? I don't want to build a new speed dial all over again and have those links not available in other browsers.
Great work on Opera, using it more now.

When I first switched to the chrome based Opera I created the Speed Dial entries by hand. Later I found an easier way. Not exactly what you want but I found that the FastDial AddOn is available for both Firefox and chrome. When you create dials it makes an ordinary bookmark folder named FastDial. Importing bookmarks you end up with the imported bookmarks in Other Bookmarks if I remember correctly. To get the FastDial bookmarks in the Opera SpeedDial just go into it and delete the ones the Opera installer puts there. Then cut and paste the bookmarks from the FastDial folder.

I haven't had much luck other than that with bookmarks in Opera. Importing from chrome or Firefox the favicons are lost. What I ended up doing there was copying the Bookmarks file from chrome. Before doing that I renamed the Opera Bookmarks file to Bookmarks.bak just in case the chrome file did not work. But it seemed to work out and I had the favicons without manually visiting hundreds of sites.

Thanks for your comment. I guess i'm just getting super lazy. I can always click on the icon for FVD speed dial which gets added to the address bar (right), but i click the plus button to open a new tab most of the time. guess it's not a big deal.

Reading your reply I see that I misunderstood your original post. Looking through the settings I see no option to set what happens when New Tab is opened. It must be hard wired to show the Opera built in Speed Dial.
