@concretable,
I'm sure it's a silly question, but after you create a new tab by Ctrl + Click, do you test entering the tab or do you close it? Entering is the part that triggers a crash for me. -

Opera Stable (44.0.2510.1218) is also crashing on my tMBP fairly frequently. I have analysed the following behaviours which seem to crash the browser:
- Ctrl+Click then open in new tab, as reported by several users above.
- Enter full screen in a Flash video; I don't think an HTML5 video has crashed my browser yet.
- When saving a file on my computer (regardless of folder location), the Save File dialog seems to crash the browser - although this doesn't seem to happen every single time, but is kind of random.
I am automatically sending my crash reports to Opera; please PM me if you need to know my email address.

Well, I suppose you can't PM on these forums but let me know if you require any further info...

More info on scenario 2 (described above): Opera crashes frequently when I click on the green button to enter Full Screen Mode, whilst the tab I'm in is playing a video - confirmed for both Flash and HTML5 videos.

@mrelvey Did you try to download the installer from the official Opera website?
Yes, besides, what does it matter? The app is signed and the signature was checked by Gatekeeper.
@bleduc1: no mouse here, actually. Trackpad. And it's entering that triggers the crash; closing doesn't.
@zalex108: I also stated clearly that I'd tried a fresh profile.
But who cares. I see we've narrowed down the problem to being Ctrl+Click - triggered and Cmd+Click is a pretty good workaround.
Confirmed: for me too: Ctrl+Click - triggered and Cmd+Click is a workaround.
way to go @concretable and @bleduc1!
@shinto: I suggest you start a new thread for 2 and 3.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents as well as this seems to be recently for me. I've updated to recent on Opera and Opera Beta.
Problem is seen for me when I already have tabs open. When I select on a URL or linked text that I want to open into a new tab, then select the new tab, Opera closes fully. If I re-open Opera, the previous tabs are there, however doing this same process again, Opera will crash then all my opened tabs I had opened are now gone upon the next launch opening of Opera. Kind of annoying having to manually re-open tabs since I usually have about 20 tabs going.

Mac Book Pro 2008 with OSX 10.10.5.
All other browsers like FF or Safari do not reproduce this issue on this Mac.
Opera Next has been working up to what I presume was previous version. Like to keep using Opera. Been a good solid browser for years for me.

Do you use ctrl + click?

Yes, ctrl + click to open new tab, then just click to select the newly created tab and then Opera closes or crashes.

We've found the cause of this bug. A fix will be available soon. Thanks to all of you!
If you can't wait a few days, and you'd like to work around this issue, try Opera -> Preferences, then click Browser, and deselect "Enable the search pop-up when selecting text". This disables the selection pop-up (which is the cause of this bug), you can turn it back on once you get an update with the fix. Of course not using Ctrl+Click as advised above will also work around the issue.

Ummm, I get "Page Crashed" on every single tab i try open... This includes all menu items, Preferences, Quick dial, EVERYTHING!!! I completely deleted the app and all other system files using App Cleaner, re installed and still the same. I can't do the above fix, The preferences window just says "Page Crashed"

@viceverser, you're seeing a different issue then what is described by the people in this thread. It's probably better to open a separate thread to discuss it.
