During writing a HTML Formatted message, I cannot insert a TAB (\t) from the keyboard, because it moves the focus from the message textarea to the font selector area. It is not convenient, because during writing a Plain Text message, it inserts a TAB (\t) character as expected. Even worse, if you don't pay attention and keep typing, you'll end up your text messed up with formatting.

I suggest to modify this behavior, e.g. make it possible, to chose what the tab key should do.

Opera Mail stopped being developed about four years ago so I guess nothing will change.

Don't know if there is a workaround for this.

You can insert tab with the "Convert hex to Unicode" keyboard shortcut, if they still have it ... looks like they do. The ASCII code for Tab is (hex)09, so if you type 09 then press Ctrl-Shift-X it'll convert the "09" to a tab character. Just make sure whatever is in front of the numbers is not a valid hexadecimal digit (0-9, A-F, a-f) or it may be converted too.

Note that a tab character in HTML is collapsed to a signal space visually unless its in a PRE block.
