Activating a status bar or turning off the URL preview

  • I'm not sure of the correct terminology for all of this. The problem occurs when using the chat function in Moodle (a learning management system). Browsers used to have what was called a "status bar" along the bottom of the browser window, and things like the URL preview would show up there.

The lack of a status bar is causing this preview to show up at the bottom of the window, which completely covers the text box so you cannot see what you are typing: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y60vc8uecoza72j/Screen Shot 2017-02-23 at 1.15.00 PM.png?dl=0

How do I a) activate a status bar on the bottom or b) turn off the URL preview that hovers over the bottom left corner?

  • Hmm ... there used to be a setting for that, looks like they don't have it any more. The notification should try to avoid the area where the mouse pointer is, so you could move the pointer down there.
