Description: Synchronization in Opera for Android doesn't seem to work.

Steps to reproduce: Enable synchronization with data encryption in Opera for Windows. Sign in Opera from Android.

Actual result: nothing happens. On the smartphone screen I can only see a red circle with a white 'O' in the middle and a blu "Sign out" button down below.

Expected result: All my bookmarks and browsing history to be synched.

      OS: 6.0.1

      Phone model: LG G5 H850

      Version of Opera: 41.0

Since data encryption is not available on Opera for Android, this may be the cause of the issue.

I would like to add my bits the cause.
It seems it used to work before when i was using the default passphrase, i.e. my account password. Since i changes the default passpharase from the desktop version to a new passphrase, the Sync stopped working. I think for Sync to work in Android and mini versions, we need to use the default passphrase (account password). If the developers add a form to fill the custom passphrase, it might work. These are my thoughts, have anyone of you experienced the same?

Sigh, I left Maxthon as I was unsure of its security. But they did have very slick sync feature. I sure hope I figure out how syncing works on Opera.

Agreed to jemshi101, I did the same today as I try to use the passphrase in PC's Opera..
Later when I try to do sync in my Android, it seems nothing responds at all, it cannot even detect that I ever logged to the PC opera browser..

Should we report it as a bug to get the developers attention? It seems pretty useless to have the possibility to have data encryption when that will impair synchronization with the mobile app.

There's no bug, passphrase just wasn't implemented on Opera for Android yet.

Well, at least users should be warned that the synchronization with the mobile app won't work if they use data encryption.

Well, users should not enable something without knowing what they are doing and possible consequences of it. 🙂

Implemention of passphrase for all synced data may have been done without they spread it publicly for some reason.
