O techs and those that are likeminded,
Can you please inform me as to how to find my Opera Bookmarks in Windows 10 / File Explorer? Also, can we export Bookmarks directly from Opera or do we really need the Backup4all plugin.
It's been more than a long time since I've used Opera but I must say I like what I see thus far. Anyway, if one can instruct me as to my query, please advise. Thanks.

The bookmarks file is stored in your Opera profile. you can find the profile location in the About Opera area. You can't export bookmarks to other browsers or formats in Opera natively. You can easily transfer it to other Opera install though. If you want to export it to another browser you will need an extension. There are many. My favorite is V7 Bookmarks.

The bookmarks file should be in %appdata%\Opera Software\Opera Stable or its whereabouts. The file is called Bookmarks (no extension) and is in JSON format. I can't confirm as I'm using a portable version. 😉

I don't know that Backup4all plugin, but if necessary I would use this more popular extension:

Thank you for the help. I exported the Bookmarks from Chrome to Desktop and the size of that file is 635 KB. I notice the size of my Bookmarks in Opera after I imported from Chrome is 447 KB. I wonder why there is a size difference?

Let's say I want to re-import Bookmarks from that saved file, is it correct that I simply would delete the Bookmarks file in Opera Stable?

Also, something extra I might ask you. Since I signed into the forum, I'm getting email(s) for everyone's posts. Is there a way to stop that?

Thank you again for kindly answering my previous question. Much appreciated.

Hover the mouse cursor on your avatar at the top right, and select "Profile" from the dropdown.
              Then select "Edit preferences".
You should be able to change your e-mail notification settings there.
I only seem to get notifications from threads that I've "starred".
              🙂

Probably Chrome store some data there that Opera doesn't (or can't) use. Or maybe it's something related to the format.

As you would have to replace the current Bookmarks file then yes, you would loose your current bookmarks.
