Can I back out of the latest upgrade and return to my previous version?

If so, I don't know how to do this. I'd need to be able to keep all my bookmarks and my speed dial etc. Can I undo an upgrade? And how?

You can download older version but it will automatically upgrade it again... -.-

I said I didn't know how to do this, so here are my further questions:
So do I just click the installer that's still left from the old version? (I assume that's the file 38.0.2220.41?) Will it then install side-by-side with the one that's running now? (I assume that one is 39.0.2256.48?)
And what is the "auto updater executable?" How do I find it, and how do I rename it?

You need to use the offline installer as the online one will always download and install the latest build.
You can get the offline installer for old versions here.

Nope, it will replace you current Opera installation. To avoid it you would need to install it using the standalone mode.
And what is the "auto updater executable?
In the current build folder inside Opera's installation folder.
