Upgraded to new Opera version--text all in italics! (Again)

I just got the prompt to restart Opera to get the latest version, and I dutifully did so. And now -- just like in a 2014 upgrade -- ALL text on virtually ALL sites is suddenly in italics!
Someone gave me a fix last time that was really a Chrome fix but worked on Opera. Does anyone remember what that was? (And I'm so sick of wasting my time trying to fix your updates! I may never update again, if I can avoid it.)

That's strange. Perhaps it's related to the DirectDraw issue?

There is no DirectDraw in this Opera. I have the same problem after the update. I somehow managed to remove the italics when I reinstalled some fonts on my computer but I still have some sites in BOLD.
How to fix the BOLD problem?

Yes, I saw a video from when it happened in 2014, with instructions to change the DirectDraw thing. But it's not there this time, so I'm stuck with the italics. I may have to abandon Opera altogether and go back to Chrome (boo!). I can't work like this.

So we're pretty much stuck with the italics unless we redownload an older version of Opera?
