I had this issue since the last week, after upgrading to Opera Developer 41.0.2329.0. At the same time, the ImTranslator plugin stopped working.

When I removed it and visited the Addons site to reinstall it, the site looked unstyled, and I couldn't install the addon as well.

I read previously that this might be an issue (and it was!) when you're behind a corporate firewall, which I am.

I connected to the site using my personal hotpot, the site loaded successfully and I was able to install the addon, which now also works fine.

When I connected back to the corporate network, the site still works, probably with the cached css.

ok so i finally found out exactly where this issue originated from for me. I'd forgotten I use open DNS family shield which diverts all traffic from the router thru the OPEN DNSServers to protect against porn etc for the kids.

(i figured it out when i used a vpn and it all worked perfectly)

by allowing these 2 domains to the allow list on openDNS it all works fine:

        addons.opera.com
        cdn0.opera-mini.net

thanks for all help and feedback on this issue.

Our corporate proxy is categorizing "cdn0.opera-mini.net" as "Proxy Avoidance" and thus is blocking the connection. I guess you are reusing the URL's that's used for Opera Turbo? Might be something you want to look into.

This is a pretty embarrassing bug. A major Opera site not working specifically with Opera. Are they releasing a fix for this asap? Is this happening to every new install?

I'm not using a special DNS server. I'm using 3G (Warehouse Mobile, New Zealand.) They rent bandwidth and don't own there own cell towers so it will be the 2Degrees or Vodafone DNS server.

I cant believe your attitude to this "LEOCG" closed my thread, this is apparently a duplicate started in.... july... and not resolved or any help or working solutions provided that actually work. do any of you mods expect people to use a browser with no extensions?

Even if this topic had a year old, it would still be the same issue so there would be no need for lots of topics talking about this.

                bye bye opera

Be careful with your wishes. 🙂

Dude leocg stop being so defensive about this embarrassing bug. Your closing peoples threads before any confirmation that there issue has been resolved. Your not an Opera empoyee and Opera developers don't want you turning there customers against them. The post I quoted it's so immature.

There is already this topic to discuss that issue with the add-ons page so there is no need to let lots of others opened.

BTW, as this discussion is totally unrelated to this topic's subject, it ends here.

Whitelisting cdn0.opera-mini.net as suggested above solved the issue. It also points to how to get the VPN service working as well. Props to damski.

Ideally Opera would not host this stylesheet on a blacklisted server (at least by OpenDNS). Not everyone controls their own whitelist.

Ideally OpenDNS shouldn't be blocking that server/address as there are no reasons for it. Opera is juts using one of its servers.

searching for extensions within opera desktop browser seems to be broken. For example if I search "ublock" nothing comes up http://i.imgur.com/KhB0Yp7.jpg
but when I search ublock opera extension in google, I get a result

Maybe if you search in the correct place.... You seems to be looking at the extensions manager not on the add-ons page.

I mean, they ARE called extensions, aren't they? You go here https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/ and says "These extensions and themes are made for the Opera browser"

although the url does have addons in it, so that seems awfully convoluted. And yet, the little extensions icon is located on the left side of opera, and and clicking on that puzzle piece leads you to the screenshot I posted above... which says... extensions. So why would opera make it so convoluted to get extensions (or is it now addons?), if those extensions (or addons) were not actually the extensions, but something else?

maybe what they REALLY meant was that was to "manage extensions" and yet that word is missing. One is lead to believe that is actually where and how you go to get extensions, or whatever they are called. Why would managing extensions be displayed prominently on the left hand side? seems like someone would first need to add SOME extensions first, but some reason that aspect is buried away somewhere else.

anyway, I thought I'd give opera another try, but it just fails at simplicity and ease of use compared to other browsers. Not to mention lacking extensions I use with other browsers.

An extension is an addon but an addon can be more than that. It can be a theme, for example.

Yes, this is where you look for and download/install extensions in Opera.

And yet, the little extensions icon is located on the left side of opera, and and clicking on that puzzle piece leads you to the screenshot I posted above... which says... extensions.

Yes, this is one of the short-cuts to the extensions manager as well the bookmarks icon is a short-cut to the bookmarks manager. And there is also one to the downloads manager.

So why would opera make it so convoluted to get extensions (or is it now addons?), if those extensions (or addons) were not actually the extensions, but something else?

                                      ???

It's not that difficult to get extensions. In the extensions manager itself there's a 'get more extensions' link that leads you to the extensions page.

maybe what they REALLY meant was that was to "manage extensions"

                                      It's kinda implicit.

One is lead to believe that is actually where and how you go to get extensions, or whatever they are called.

I don't remember haver seen comments regarding this.

Why would managing extensions be displayed prominently on the left hand side?

Why not? There is the bookmarks manager, the downloads manager.

anyway, I thought I'd give opera another try, but it just fails at simplicity and ease of use

Interesting to read it as for me Opera is one of the simplest and easy to use browsers.

I'm having the same issue, a broken add ons page, and I cannot get to the page to flush sockets. I get an Unknown Protocol warning.

At home I use windows 10 64 bit, extensions are fine. At work, windows 7 Professional 32 Bit Get Add Ons page won't load.

If I copy the URL for the Get More Extensions page and paste it into a different browser, it still looks broken.

Could this be a corporate firewall problem? I hope not, as I love Opera and would gladly make it my #1, but I need to sync between home and work.

This becomes a moot point if there is someway to sync extensions between computers.
