hello all, thanks in advance for your help. i've just installed the opera browser and there's a google search bar at the front of it that i can't seem to remove, someone in another thread suggested the solution to disable it in the browser's power user settings with the ^^vv<><>ba code so i've tried that and it only brings up a warning but won't let me see what i wanted. is there another way to those settings, and is there another way to disable the google search bar? it's only for cosmetic reasons that i want it gone really, i've set the search bar to search using something else and i'll never have to use the one on the start page but i just don't like it being there
the second question is how do i make opera run shockwave player, i've installed that, what do i do now?

Next time please read the Forum Rules, in special number 3. Also, try to better format your text (use paragraphs and so on) and use one topic per issue.
and is there another way to disable the google search bar?
In Settings > Browser, check 'Show advanced settings'. Then click on the cogwheel icon at the top right of the Start Page/Speed Dial and uncheck 'Search box'.
the second question is how do i make opera run shockwave player, i've installed that, what do i do now?
There is a PPAPI version of Shockwave? If not then it will not work since NPAPI plugins stopped working in Chromium based browsers a while ago.

thanks, sorry for my mistakes.
the google search bar's gone, thanks for the advice.
i don't know what PPAPI and NPAPI are (i'll look it up) but if that's the explanation then i'm satisfied.
and what's chromium, does that mean opera's based on google's browser, or is it that both browsers are based on the same software? will opera send my metadata to google?

No.

great, that's reassuring. opera doesn't run quite as smoothly as chrome, i don't understand that if it's the same software, but it's faster than firefox anyway. thanks for your answers, feel free to close this whenever you want.
