I have several icons pinned to the taskbar, including Opera. All the others are well-behaved, just showing an underline when active. But Opera not only has the underline but a bright red rectangle. I've tried different icons with no change. How to kill the fluorescence?

Oh. Kay. I normally keep my download directory pretty clean but didn't realize the downloads list is independent of that. Now the red flare is gone but still a black square around the icon. I can live with that if I have to. Thanks for the help.

Oops. I had replaced the C:\Progs\Opera\launcher.exe icon with a downloaded one. Reinstated and all is well.

Oh. I think an example of micro-design. I don't normally look at the taskbar while downloading -- most downloads take only a few seconds and the popup at the upper right tells me the progress. However, some folks probably love the feature.
