Deleting messages without opening

Is it possible to delete and email without opening it? I am rather concerned when receiving an infected email that I am able to delete it without opening it. TIA

Just disable the preview window. Then messages will only be opened if you double click on them.

Opera does not execute javascript or plugins in messages nor does it allow frames or other external content. so about the only exploit possible would involve some malformed image file attached to the message. But yes, you can also switch to a List only view to avoid even that.
