As described, Opera Mail does not show up in the list of programs in Windows 10 when trying to set the default mail client. Is this a Windows 10 thing or just M$ being bastards? In any case, does anyone know how to make W10 realise Opera Mail is my default mail program? It is already flagged as default in Opera Mail itself.

Did you do a stand alone install of Opera Mail?

All users or single user, same as for the browser.

Where does About Opera Mail say your profile directory is? I'm going to guess you don't know how you installed it per se - you just left the default options there and thus probably have either single user or all users.

Opera browser could only be set to handle mailto: links, it never was able to be used for Send to > Email recipient. I never checked to see if Mail was different, I just presumed it was the same.

Then it's the mailto: links that fail.

              Pity.
