OPERA Developer Version 39.0.2234.0 VPN ISSUES

  • So annoying! I hate when things worked perfectly and that got taken away. Obviously issues with regional broadcasting rights. Next week, at some point it kept asking me to sign into VPN account. It will be great to have VPN feature for security purposes...

Well, we all knew that such things could happen when we chose to use the developer stream builds.

  • Just in case someone just navigate to the last page, the latest dev version's VPN does not work. But the VPN in the previous version works. Here's the link.

To stop auto-update, rename operaautoupdate.exe in C:\Program Files\Opera developer\39.0.2226.0 (or wherever Opera Developer is installed) to something else, such as operaautoupdate.exe.bak

  • Sadly, even after reverting to 39.0.2226.0, I am still unable to use vpn. It says connecting, but actually never manages to obtain a connection. I am using Windows 10 x64, not using any proxy, I have avast installed, but even uninstalling it didn't help 😞

  • I have the same problem. Last night everything works perfect but when I want to turn VPN today its only connecting. 😕

  • Same. Never really worked for me despite following all the instructions, reverting to previous builds etc.

  • ok it works now, to be honest i didnt realise when it connected ")

  • How Opera didn't simply pull 39.0.2234.0, especially when they must have known they weren't going to update it for a couple weeks, is beyond imagination.

    Welcome to developer stream. 🙂

    From http://www.opera.com/blogs/desktop/streams/:

    Opera developer

    (...)

It is not intended for daily browsing. It is provided for web developers (as the name suggests) and enthusiasts who are >not afraid of some bumps in the road.

  • That doesn't explain the cone of silence.

And developers would be just as happy with the previous version, I suspect.

  • That doesn't explain the cone of silence.

    What silence? From who?

The VPN issue affects just a small percentage of the users as it seems and people from Opera are trying to find out what may be causing those problems.

As a forum moderator, do you have direct contact with Opera Developers?

Interesting. Are you a paid Opera employee or a community member chosen to moderate these forums?

Second option. If i was an Opera employee i guess i would have access to developers.

    Gotcha.

  • Works now when disabling updates under Kernel 4.7-rc1. Don't use it in Win Ten and the bug remains.
Version: 39.0.2226.0 - New version 39.0.2245.0 is available

EDIT: Works now in Win Ten but for live streaming (cbc player) there's a pop-up saying Click to run Adobe Flash player. Will give it a try in Linux later.
Version: 39.0.2245.0 - Opera is up to date

Edit 2: Works in Kylin also but same bug: Click to run Abobe Flash Player (everywhere). There is no radio streaming: This is a 5 years old bug

    Update stream:developer
    System:Ubuntu Kylin 16.04 LTS (x86_64; Unity)

  • I'm having the opposite problem. When I open Opera Developer 39 (the latest update, whatever it is), there's no VPN button, but the VPN seems automatically switched on in the normal windows. I'm in the UK but previously set it to Netherlands, and it's stuck on Netherlands so I can't watch the BBC. To do so I have to open a Private window with VPN switched off!
