I suppose because of the different engines they are based on. Ad blocking will be in opera 37 but it will take 2 months until they promote it to stable, which indeed sucks 😞

Why there is not an ad blocker in Opera beta? In Opera Mini beta there is one.

        Because it wasn't implemented yet.

Remember that Opera for Android and Opera Mini for Android are different products, so they don't necessarily share the same features and even if the case, they may not be implemented at a same time.

          Ah ok, I understand, thanks.
Hope it will be implemented soon.

So, integrated ad blocking is planned. Good. Just wanted to ask about it, but now I don't have to. Opera Turbo + adblocking will be great for mobile data plan.

They should make one Opera instead of 2.

                Yes, that is true!!
I can't decide, which one to use.
The opera has the forced zoom and working text wrapping, the mini has its adblock and the automatically hiding bottom bar.
Put the functions of both in one, and you'll get the best browser for android!!!

If you check the dates here ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/ you will see that upgrades to the next version are done about every 2 months 🙂

Nope, there's nothing about adblocker on Opera for Android nor in which version it would be implemented.

On Mini, ads are blocked by the servers since all traffic goes through them.
For Opera for Android it would need to be implemented in the browser and be performed locally.

Let's hope that Opera will not fail https://panopticlick.eff.org/ tests running Chrome 51 and above. Still I don't know how Chrome 52 stop ads on forum.softpedia.com site.

so can you run turbo with ad-block? b/c typically (in other browsers) you can either have a data saver feature OR adblock, but not both running at the same time. The way I understand it is the opera turbo processes everything thorough their server, so I wonder how ad block is implemented? I also wonder how much more data is saved with having turbo on plus adblock, as opposed to just turbo. one of the reasons to block ads is to save data

The job is done by the server if i understood correctly.
