I found a file maybe related:/data/data/com.opera.browser/files/ds/8/all
but
1, some fuzzy text within when I open it by notepad, not sure how can I modify it properly.
2, tried update in this file and overwrite the original one, it only works once, after then, opera restore search engines back to default. seems opera will detect the changing of this file somehow.anyone help? thanks.

You can add DuckDuckGo SaaS search engine, you just have to hold on search field.

Nope, afaik you can only use one of the pre-defined search engines as default one.
any reason [other than money] why we can't change it?
“I need a immediate extraction from my current location”

The inability to define your own default search engine has been around for years with Opera Mobile/Mini despite constant requests over the years for the user to do so. I doubt it will ever change. I too suspect the only reason the default search engine is fixed is due to search referral income it generates for Opera. It wouldn't be so bad for me if I could just change google.com to google.co.uk for more relevant search results, but no.
I just save google.co.uk as speed dial and skip the default search engine capability, I find it simpler than messing about selecting and changing the search engines over within Opera.

Security. This prevent malwares from hijacking your serach engines.
Which is:
- Practically inexistent in Android and the malware would require root access.
- Inexistent in other platforms, yet we can't change default search engine in any mobile device since forever.
- Possible to develop a way to allow search engine choice and keep the security, but Opera didn't do it until now by choice.

In short: you can't stop Google tracker just like that, Fennec works in the same way in favor of Amazon. For the record at first startup the app may stall a bit because Google location is in conflict with Appboy similar request.

someone help me here.. I use Opera Mini 14.0.something and I had the 4 default search engines.. Few days back my 4th search engine (dictionary. com) changed automatically to duckduckgo.com.. I didn't update or allow any permission.. I don't know how and I want to change it back.. In some previous version of operamini, I'm sure I had changed a search engine by manually changing the address of the IMDB search engine and it worked.. I can't find that setting anymore.. pls help I desperately want dictionary.com back
