open url using command line

  • this is a simple example of how to open a url through command line .. it is useful if you want to make a shortcut for a site in your desktop or you want to pin it in your taskbar

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\31.0.1889.99\opera.exe" --ran-launcher --remote www.duolingo.com

this command will open duolingo website .. don't forget to choose an icon for the shortcut to look nice 🙂

  • Why not run the launcher, so your link doesn't break after every update? 1889.99 is not the latest version ...

  • great note 🙂 .. it is now ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\launcher.exe" --ran-launcher --remote www.duolingo.com)
    thanks

  • Steve, the dude's been advertising it seems.
    ☕ ?

    ?

It doesn't seem to be the case.

  • Why not just create a shortcut and paste the website url you want? Then pin it wherever?

it does not afect version, and always have that page to your default browser, (assuming you don't need opera to open only that page, then have other browser for everything else) in case you might change opera in the future, or opera changes launcher.exe name or location or triggers... 🙂

  • Given his username I had considered it, but didn't see any spam either.

  • i just giving an example 🙂 i don't intent to make advertise to any website .. if there is an option to edit my post i will edit it and hide website name .. I'm only sharing an idea that may help somebody someday .. thanks
