How do I do this; I have tried to use the "Exceptions" in the privacy settings/cookies and entered a specific site setting it to "Block" - however these cookies keep getting set.

        Configuring cookie settings

You can chose to allow all cookies to be stored on your computer, refuse all, or selectively allow certain cookies and certain types of cookies. To manage your cookie settings, select the File/Opera Icon > Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies > Manage Exceptions:

Enter the Web Address and select BLOCK from the dropdown menu and click done.

          Did that; didn't work.

I told Opera to block cookies from nytimes.com, and I erased all cookies, closed Opera down...then booted O30 again, went to the NYtimes site, and voila, there are the same cookies set for it. Same for washingtonpost.com

          ????

How are you setting the cookies you want to block? Remember that www.site.com and site.com will block different things.

then booted O30 again, went to the NYtimes site, and voila, there are the same cookies set for it.

Are you seeing really cookies set for those sites or just the site names listed?

Hi, done it both ways (using www and without it)

I know the cookies are set, because they are listed in the Privacy Settings "All Cookies And Site Data" - I erase them (delete with the little "X"), then they are gone. Is there another way to "seeing really cookies set for those sites or just the site names listed" other than that.

I know I have deleted those cookies, because the NYTimes and Washingtonpost sites have a limit of how many pages you can view, when you reach 10, you are not allowed to see that page...if you delete the cookies for those sites, you are set back to 1 page viewed, same for NYTimes, WashPost, LATimes. Soon as you visit those sites, the cookies begin occurring again. I can view the linked pages in a private window, and of course cookies are not set, and you can peruse those sites to your heart's content without limitation.

Note that even if you block a domain/page it will be listed there but the cookies will not (or should not at least) be set. Opera Presto worked the same way.
