Hy, my old computer broke down and I have got a new one with opera 37 and I am trying to import my old bookmarks. I have saved the adr file of bookmarks in my desktop and now I don't know what to do as simple copying them to the opera folder won't work and trying to import them via the import bookmark solution of the browser is impossible, as they are not a html file. Can anyone help me? Tks in advance!

Hi- I'm an old man (71) and know nothing about computers. I DID know from younger friends that Explorer was crap and that I should try Opera. I did. LOVED it. And have stuck with it for years. I'm working still on Opera 12: I did d/l Opera 17, but when I found that Bookmarks did NOT come with it, I quickly uninstalled Op.17 and went back to Op. 12: the bookmarks were my MAIN reason for using Opera. Does anyone know how I can upgrade to the better security of Op.37 without losing my Op. 12 bookmarks (I must have about 2,000 of them; Explorer didn't do this well, Chrome does bookmarks fairly well, but only if fewer than 2,000; haven't figured out Avast Safezone yet).
I imagine you younger guys might be laughing at me- fair do- but I am a retired soldier of 44 years service (22½ regular, 21½ reserves), so I am asking if someone can help me. And as I look at the 05 May answer above as I write this, I don't know what a bookmarks.adr file is, or how to find it; also above says export as html file: how does one do that? BEFORE I get the Op.37 d/l? or after? My old army brain says how can one export something if there's no destination yet? Help, please. Ou, en français, si vous voulez.

When you install Opera 37 it should import some data from your default browser and from Opera 12 if it's using the default folders.
Anyway, you can export your bookmarks to a html file in Opera 12 and then import them into Opera 37.

You can do it at any time as long as you still have Opera 12 on your computer but i guess it will be easier for you to do it before installing Opera 37.

The destination will be any folder on your computer. You can even export to desktop.

leo (of leocg): bless you and thank you for your help... but it didn't work that well. Of 2-3000 bookmarks, the system you suggested of doing the HTML file on desktop only brought about 50 of the thousands of files. But since Op. 37 AND Op. 12 are still on my computer, all is not lost yet. I went back to the discussion above mine: IN Op. 12, I cannot find a profile folder. Can you be kind enough to tell me how to find same. please. Thanks again: you're clearly a master of what you do- but we neophytes sometimes need more specifics: Me, I'm quite literal; you say "profile" and I can't find it, I use the search computer function in Win 7, and it said 'No such file found'... a bit more help, please + thanks. (Hey- I'm Canadian and polite- maybe the two are synonymous).
