I'm using Opera 36.0.2130.74 on Windows 7 64bit. It's an office computer that I use a few times a week. I turn it off when I leave. Each time I return to the office, turn on the computer, jump into Opera and it asks me (every time) if I want to make Opera my default. As far as the computer is concerned, Opera is my default browser. I answer YES every time. But the problem persists.

      Thanks for any advice.

If it isn't actually the default browser that is surely a Windows problem, not an Opera problem, as your wish is not being saved by Windows.
What happens if you say "no" when it asks you if you want it to be the default browser?
Is it in fact still the default browser? For instance do links in e-mails still open with it?
If it is in fact the default browser it must be an Opera problem because Opera isn't recognising that fact, otherwise I would say it's a Windows problem.
          🙂

Go to control panelpanel > default programs and make sure Opera is set as default.

Yes, Opera is the default program for opening web links, etc. And again today, start up the computer and Opera asked me again if I wanted it to be my default browser. Next?

Favorites are saved, check. Extensions are functional and their settings are saved, check. Next?

So it is and remains the default browser even if you say "no" when it asks if you want it to be?
If so, I'm out of suggestions.
My Opera 36 is a standalone installation, which can't be made the default browser anyway, so I've nothing to compare your situation with I'm afraid.
