Thank God that we can still use the old tab layout from the flags page, I never even thought of that. Looks like I won't need to get a different browser after all. Please keep supporting the user friendly 'old' tab managing method in future versions of opera as well and I'll keep being a happy user!

New tab layout is better than old tabs layout, so the developer can remove it if they love removing things

It might be better for users of other browsers because it's exactly the same, but as a 2 year Opera user I will switch to another browser if I'm forced to use that uncomfortable tab browsing anyway so I hope they'll just keep supporting the 'old' way.

I'm indifferent towards the new tab switcher. I can't honestly say I think it's a huge improvement over the previous method. It's just different.
I'm going to work on the basis that the new tab switcher is still a work in progress. So forgetting the fact it crashed Opera Mobile on me the very first time I tried to use it. I find it frequently shows a blank white box of an open webpage/tab instead of a thumbnail view of the page. I would prefer it if the tab switcher also showed more complete thumbnails of your open tabs instead of all of the main tab in focus and just half of one other open tab and then nothing at all of the third and so on. It's cumbersome to have a large thumbnail view of your focused tab, then half a large view of your second tab and then another tiny view underneath that displays how many tabs you have in total. I think this should all be combined into one single view that shows a greater nummber of your open tabs with complete thumbnail views of them to aid quick recognition and selection.
I've mentioned before that I really do not like that there is no clear separation between normal and private tabs. It's irritating to constantly find myself accidentally swiping into private tabs when I never use them. It's another "pull to refresh" kind of thing.

The tab thumbnails are pretty much in the same position they used to be before here (in the Classic layout). I mean, I don't need to reach the top of the screen to select one of them. Does your device have a very big screen or resolution perhaps? Because I can't see the big difference, and it's still much better than Chrome or Firefox's tab switcher BTW.

After this update (36.0.2126), I cannot run Opera... the error message is "Opera need more space to run,Please try to clear app data or try to uninstall some application".
But there is 3GB free on internal storage on my Motorola Razr i.
App is reinstalled, data & cache deleted... does not help -

I decided to give the new tab switcher another try. I had to give up and go back to the old one.
Not having the tab current tab in the background is a real deal breaker for me. It's different but certainly not better,

if popup blocker is enabled, why do opera enable pop up ad-pages and google play links?

Hmm crashes are much less frequent since 36. I still had one, nonetheless...
These were actually replaced by "tab is not responding do you want to close/wait?" messages. The message almost always appear when you visit a website, switch to another app then go back to Opera (or locking the screen with a page opened in Opera then unlocking). There's a small lag then the message appears and the tab becomes responsive again.
Other nuisances:
-
1- When I open a page in a new tab in the background the thumbnail is not created it stays as a fully white thumbnail and not even the page title is loaded onto the tab switcher. That makes it impossible to identify and navigate through tabs open in the background.
-
2- Tab switcher is scrolling all the way to the left when you close a tab previous to the one you're using. Steps: Open 3 different pages in different tabs. As you stay in the 3rd tab, open the tab switcher and swipe up the 2nd one and you'll see. It's impossible to manage tabs that way (even more so if you have more than 3), really cumbersome.
I'm not sold in this version yet...
BTW the design of the new tab switcher is not that great to be honest, now that I see it in first person, the part with the page title and X button reminds me of Android ICS stock browser. It's "generic" and Holo instead of Material, IDK.

Tried installing the new Opera Android, it's listed as Opera Full Browser. Downloaded it and tried to install it...won't install.
Any help appreciated

Yeah. I would say the old switcher was alright and didn't need fixing. Probly could have spent the time on improving other aspects of the browser to make it even more better than the others.

I have some questions:
-Is Opera 37 for Android going to have the native ad-blocking?
-Are there any plans bringing Opera Mini's "Night Mode + Reduce eye strain" to Opera for Android as well? Thanks in advance.
P.S. wow I still have this account here, all right. Feeling happy that Opera has fixed all those problems that infuriated me back in the day, keep up the good work in every product

I don't think that adblocking will work properly with Opera for Android. Besides, what is the compat scale with Opera Max? With some occasions Opera browser forward java and/or ad-block (not being enabled) capabilities too. Naturally will work better via VPN.

Why wouldn't it work, many android browsers have it, like UC Browser for example. Also go to Opera Mini's Settings you will find "Night mode" and "reduce eye strain" there

Good news, Opera plans to include integrated ad-blocking and VPN in the Android version.
PS. No ETA, plans can change.
